Come celebrate local history and see the recent renovations to the old meeting house!  A new roof and foundation repairs were just completed as well as a clearing of the surrounding land.  To add to the celebration, Puckerbrush with guest star Shana Aisenberg will entertain - so be sure to bring along a lawn chair so you can sit and enjoy the music!

There will also be some old fashioned games - horseshoes for the "elders" and some kid friendly activities as well.   Tour the meeting house and learn some interesting facts about this town treasure.  Wander across the road to see the Town Pound where wayward critters were corralled in days gone by.  Raffle tickets for the much coveted History House quilt will be on sale as well as other interesting local history items.  Light refreshments will be served.

Directions:  From Kezar Falls take Route 25 west to Colcord Pond Road.  The Road will turn right and then at the "Y" stay right onto Old Meeting House Road.

LOCAL HISTORY MATTERS!

A Successful Event!

   The society sponsored an event on August 17th at the Old Town House in Parsonsfield.  Both the Town House and Union Church were open to visitors and the event was very well attended.

   Sure footed visitors were also able to take a self-guided tour of the cemetery adjacent to the Town House which holds some notable graves of early settlers and Revolutionary war soldiers.

   The event was curated by Lyn Sudlow, a historical society member and resident of Parsonsfield.  We are very thankful for Lyn's outstanding effort.  We may just make this an annual event! 

   Speaking of annual events, be sure to circle September 1, 2013 on your calendar.  That is the day, between 11 am and 2 pm, when another local landmark will be open for visitors.  The Old Meeting House in Porter will again welcome visitors to celebrate its recent renovations.  Please note that this event is on, rain or shine!  Also, their are no "facilities" at the Old Meeting House.  Directions and more details to follow next week.
