Memories of South Hiram...new exhibit opens at History House

A new exhibit opens on Saturday June 4, 2016 at History House.  Memories of South Hiram will bring back lots of memories for those of you who grew up in Kezar Falls.

The photograph on the left is looking east on Main Street.  You can just make out the South Hiram Post Office in the background.

South Hiram kids pictured include, front, Tim Stocks, Dave Bucknell, Ed Pendexter.  Back left, Billy Nason, Pat Sargent, Dwight and Gary Gilpatrick.

The South Hiram Elementary School, now the town office, is shown in 1916 below.
 So, mark your calendar for Saturday 4 June 2016 from 1 - 4pm and come to History House to share your remembrances of South Hiram.  Bring along any old photographs too so we can scan them and add them to the collection.  Quilt raffle tickets will be available as will Garden/Artist Studio Tour tickets which will be on June 25, 2016.

Memories of South Hiram...

Meeting on Saturday 21 May 2016.  Join us to hear local residents reminisce about growing up in South Hiram.

Meeting begins at 1:00 pm and the discussion will start around 1:30pm.  If you have any old photographs of South Hiram, bring them along.  We are especially looking for photographs of the Hanaford greenhouses.

Tickets for the garden tour will be available and are $12.  Quilt raffle tickets available too!

Time to get your garden tour tickets!

On Saturday, June 25, 2016 (rain date Sunday, June 26 )seven local gardens and some artists studios will be open to the public as a joint fund raiser for the Parsonsfield-Porter, Hiram and Baldwin Historical Societies.  Tickets are only $12.00 and can be purchased at the Adult Education Office, 71 Main Street, Porter, 625-3092.  On the day of the tour tickets will be $15.00 and available at 6 Hiram Hill Road, at one of the gardens.   There will also be a raffle for one of three gift certificates to O'Donal's Nursery and some of the artist's work will also be for sale.

Don't miss this opportunity to see some lovely gardens and help your local historical societies continue their work of preserving you town's history.
